Aberavon

Beach description:

Though it is flanked by industry, with docks and a steel works, Aberavon is arguably the most popular kite beach in South Wales. It features a huge, sandy beach backed by sand dunes. Aberavon will work on anything from SSE around to NW, though cross-shore winds can be gusty. Works best in a SW.

Beach Access

Parking is just off Scarlet Avenue. Follow signs to the beach.

Code of Conduct

Kite surfers must stick to the allocated kite zone. This is in front of the sand dunes. Strictly no riding in front of the promenade.

South, South-West, West, North-West

Water Type

Aberavon picks up its fair share of swell. The western end has some flatter sections. Expect a mixed bag. We\'re not sure about the tide states at Aberavon, if anyone could help us out we\'d be grateful.

Hazards

The public. Aberavon is a popular dog walking spot. Fishermen. The bucket and spade brigade in the summer months. The water quality can be a be iffy / silty.
