Name:
Shoreham Beach
Beach description:
Shoreham beach is a great spot for all abilities. Just ten minute drive from Brighton, it features a large stretch of pebble beach with some sand at very low tide. Shoreham offers an all round kitesurf experience. A large(ish) swell at mid tide with some nice shallow fun at low tide. A small but friendly kitesurfing community frequent the beach which means it’s rarely crowded but has enough people around to prevent you feeling like you’re on your own. The shore break can be a bit of a problem at high tide, but hey… no beach is perfect. Shoreham Beach works on a E all the way around to W.
Beach Access
Parking is all roadside but can be less the 25 metres from the beach through access paths.
Code of Conduct
Some lucky home owners have houses which have gardens joining the beach. Try to keep some distance so to avoid becoming one of their new garden ornaments!

Water Type
Shoreham offers an all round kitesurf experience. A large(ish) swell at mid tide with some nice shallow fun at low tide. Shoreham can have a very big shore-break, so best to go when the tide is under four metres - so about 2-3 hours either side of low tide. A high tide is accessible if you're comfortable with getting out through large shore-breaks. It's do-able with cross-shore winds but really difficult on a straight on-shore wind. Beware, the stones drop away right at the waters edge and even the best can end up going for a spin!
Hazards
There are a few small wooden groynes on the right hand side of the beach which are only visible at late mid to low tide. Shoreham harbour arm is on the far left of the beach so beginners might want to keep to a safe distance.
