Newgale Sands
active 3 years, 5 months agoNewgale Sands in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a stunning 2 mile long beach. It is backed by a shingle bank which limits kiting around high tide but when the tide drops it provides hard smooth sand perfect for land kiting and kitesurfing.
The beach faces marginally south of west so has a wide range of useable wind directions. The beach is open to the Atlantic so is a surf beach providing good conditions for beginners and advanced waveriders. The flat water sections between the waves give a good smooth run for first timers but also help introduce them to kitesurfing in waves.
For the more advanced wave riders Northerly and South Easterly winds provide good cross-offshore conditions with safe escape spots.
Newgale works on anything from SSE all the way around to NNW, though anything with E in it is gusty.
