Name:

Longniddry

Beach description:

Longniddry is a small village in East Lothian, just a few miles from Edinburgh. It has a relatively small wind direction range, but when it’s on it’s really good. Expect clean winds, flat water, little kickers and some nice chop. All in the same session! Believe it or not, James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan once lived in Longniddry! Longniddry will work on SW around to W but is best on WSW.

Water Type

When it's on at Longniddry it's really good. Clean winds, flat water, little kickers and some nice chop are all available to play with. A bit of something for everyone! At high tide there is very little beach for launching / landing The tide goes in and out really quickly. Watch where you stash your bags etc. and keep an eye out for your landing spot.

Hazards

Rocks, lots of rocks! Typical on-shore winds leave little margin for error at higher tide states. Longniddry is not ideal for beginners. There are lots of rocks and it's easy to get caught out by the tide. If you have any problems staying upwind you should head to nearby Gullane instead, which is much safer.
