Name:
Lady’s Island
Beach description:
Our Lady's Island has a brackish lake, technically a back-barrier seepage lagoon, separated from the Atlantic Ocean at the southern end by a 200m wide sand and gravel bar. The lake has flat to choppy water and is very flat water behind the beach to the south with S winds.
Code of Conduct
You must be able to kitesurf upwind, or you could have a long walk from other side of lake. There are two sides to the lake, Tacumshin (farm side) best for beginners and Lobster Pot side (large rocks/bolders downwind). Please note that the Lobster Pot side land is privately owned - the owner does not mind kitesurfers using it so long as there are no fires or litter.
Wind Direction
South-East, South-West
Best Tides
Lake is emptied yearly so depth can vary, there is a lot of algae here after a hot spell due to mix of salt and fresh water - it is harmless but can be annoying to relaunch in
